I am looking for a cheapie 4" hydraulic jackplate . I have a aluminum boat with a 60HP yamaha I am needing it for. Looking for a used one, dont want to sink a lot of money into this little project. I have been told I need to save a lot of money for welding cracks!!! LOL!

Ronnie, you need to beef up the transom before you put a hydraulic jackplate on there.  Otherwise it will bend the transom over like a tin can.

ok, thanks Tommy.   And thanks Kernan!!  Now I need to start researching how to beef up the transom, and then worry about the jackplate after that's done Sad    I will start gossipping with Tilton "Mr Cha Ching"... LOL!  Shocked

Now I need to start researching how to beef up the transom, ......

Few wraps of duct tape should hold it fine

question: will bondo dry under the duct tape.. if an emergency repair is done on the water??? or will bubble gum suffice until the boat is back on the trailer?

I think I set the worlds slowest boat on plane record last sat!! I throttled it 100% and was moving at the speed of smell! I couldnt even catch up to the ducks swimming on the surface!

I did get a little humor out of pulling next to a catamaran racing boat with triple 350's on the back!! I pulled next to him and "hammered"(if you can call it that) the throttle a couple times!! I think we both got a kick outta that!! LMAO! Grin
