As a young boy growing up , I can remember visiting our family in Del Rio.  James and JoAnna Mae Taylor, who had the Borden milk distributorship at the time , along with sons Doug, Randy “Cowboy” and daughter Tammy (who worked for The News Herald). Even though my hometown is Castroville, Texas our family has deep roots here. I can remember when they closed the gates on Amistad and  39 years of fishing her pristine water since I was 7 .  My wife Dianne and I own The Anglers Lodge and Tackle Shop on Hwy. 90 . My credentials: Texas West Region  B.A.S.S. Director, Texas B.A.S.S. Fish Care Coordinator, Texas West Region B.A.S.S. Conservation Director, President  South Texas Anglers Sportsman’s Association, President Anglers Bass Club , Life Member B.A.S.S., Tournament Director Bud Light Team Amistad and San Antonio Division ,30 years bass tournament experience. Many hats to wear.

I chose to write the “editorial” section of the lake column to inform all of you of  happenings, events, organizations, conservation projects and more. I will tell you which ramps to avoid and major bass tournaments coming in the future so you can plan your next trip. I will also have columns on fish care, covering every aspect from capture, to livewell, to weigh-in scales to optimize fish survival and teach the procedure called “Fizzing”.  I will also be writing about  future projects currently underway, such as the “Live Release Tournament Dock” . The “ShareLunker” program that happens from October through the spring months. How to care for a ShareLunker , from capture to bringing it to The Anglers Lodge Official ShareLunker Weigh-in facility at the tackle shop. I will be also sharing our work with Texas Parks and Wildlife Biologists as we strive to care for the “Big Blue”, as well as Amistad National Park Service information.

Ramps to avoid for next two weeks due to tournaments :
SteamPlant – September 11th and 12th
Diablo East – September 18th ,19th  ; September 25th

Tournaments
Permian Open Team
September 18th and 19th
You can pick up a registration flyer here at The Anglers Lodge or most tackle shops in the area.

I am looking forward to serving this community with this column. It will be informative and entertaining for all.  Regards.

Come on Calvin...we all know better than that. Even Josh has a chance...a very small one...but still a chance.  Grin I would even say good ole Mr. Hastings has a chance that is if he can still fish...might take him awhile to remove his foot out of his mouth! LOL

My name is on the Trophy motor mouth, I guess thye Scott just started adding AOY on the championship trophy because it didn't have any AOY on it the last time I seen it.

My foot my be somewhere else real soon.......
